Subject: Fw: MARSHALS PLEASE – Fulbeck, Near Newark – W&DMC’s John Hickling Memorial Stages – Sunday 3rd August 2025
As you know, any successful rally requires an army of marshals to cover timing, radios, and in-stage duties.
The support we’ve had from everyone for the past two years has been fantastic and I’d love to welcome you all to Fulbeck on the 3rd August to help run our rather special 2025 event, which has been named The John Hickling Memorial Stages Rally in tribute to our former Clerk of the Course who tragically passed away the week after the 2024 event.
If you can assist, please complete the attached Marshals’ info form and Officials’ signing-on declaration and email them back to me as soon as possible, together with a pic/copy of your 2025 MSUK Marshal’s licence. If you have any particular preference for marshalling duties, please let me know in your email?
If you are bringing a team to the event, please add all the teams’ info onto the Marshals’ info form, and ask them to each complete a signing on declaration and email it back to me ASAP? Please note that for these forms a typed name is deemed to be an acceptable signature.
If anyone cannot return the signing-on declaration to me, fear not, they can either print it off and bring it with them, or else a paper version will be available on the morning (but the emailed-back version does speed the morning up significantly for everyone!)
Subject to confirmation, the plan is for marshals’ signing-in from 07.00 to 08.00, 1st car away at 09.00 and all finished and done by 6pm.
As you enter and leave the venue, please drive slowly and carefully through the surrounding villages to keep our neighbours happy!
The Airfield’s postcode is NG32 3JE and the entrance will be arrowed off the public road.
what3words for the main entrance is ///quietly.tapes.snooping
what3words for the signing-in point is ///attic.cactus.escaping
Fulbeck has always been a marmite venue for competitors, and the generous ongoing sponsorship of Jordan Road Surfacing since 2023 has enabled us to retain the venue’s character, but carry out significant safety improvements to the stages, and we were delighted when the EMAMC competitors voted it their favourite mixed-surface event in 2023 and again in 2024!
To keep our marshals entertained, and competitors on their toes, we’ve planned 8 challenging mixed-surface stages, 4 in each directions and, with 50+ stage miles, we’re expecting a healthy, competitive entry because the event is a round of the following Stage Rally Championships (SRCs):-
- Alpha Concrete ANEMMC SRC
- Heart of England AWMMC SRC
- Clubman Motorsport EMAMC SRC
- Proflex Shock Absorbers ANCC SRC
Hopefully you’ll see the benefit of having the event’s chief marshals on the organising team, because:-
- There is a separate signing-in area for marshals, away from the competitors.
- You’ll be sent stage plans, marshals’ info and your location(s) by email beforehand, so you know what’s happening.
- All marshals will get a drink & bap voucher which can be used any time in the day, not just at breakfast!
- There will be a decent lunch break whilst we turn the stages around.
- There will be a cash draw for marshals, with a good donation from the club and (hopefully!) some generous additional contributions from the competitors.
- There may also be additional marshals’ goodies, depending on what we can acquire!
- Naturally, I’ve once again requested some gentle sunshine, 20C temperatures, and a slight breeze to blow any dust away from you. (albeit the reply is slightly less guaranteed!)
As usual, if you have any queries, or technology problems, please let us know?
We’re looking forward to seeing you at Fulbeck.
Kind regards
Jon Leckenby, Chief Marshal
Nick Trout, Deputy Chief Marshal
