Hesslewood Office Park Classic Car Rally – 21st August 2022

In case this is of interest to anyone – but please note this is the same date as NHMC’s Sutton-upon-Derwent Scenic Run.

One of my colleagues has mentioned that he has been to a few of your car rally events and they were very successful. I thought I’d contact you regarding a classic car rally charity event we’re hosting at Hesslewood Office Park on Sunday 21st August 10am-3pm. I was wondering if you’d be able to send this invitation out to your club members to see if they’d be interested in attending. I have attached the leaflet and application form should they wish to apply. Please return all applications to info@brooklandsproperty.co.uk

We will have a number of food and drink vendors, craft stalls and various family attractions.

Colin Wright RIP

I have been advised that Colin Wright has passed away in The Cottingham Nursing home aged 84. I’m afraid that only our older members will know him, he was a past club  magazine editor and a member of the famous  “Green Men” marshalling team, together with Les Coulson and  Bob Simpson, sadly no longer with us. This leaves Graham Hudson as the only remaining Green Man, although Mike Kitchen is still under apprenticeship.

I will advise funeral arrangements when I get them

On Wednesday 18th May at 19:00, Motorsport UK will be hosting a webinar to provide guidance on how best to support and recruit new volunteers.

In the 2021 club consultation, clubs told Motorsport UK the biggest challenge they face is recruiting volunteers, find out about resources being developed to support clubs. As well as top tips and discussions about the recruitment and retention of volunteers along with ideas for celebrating National Volunteers Week. Subject: Marshals Please! – 2022 Rex Pet Hotel Flying Fortress Stages – Sunday 12th June

The 2022 Rex Pet Hotel Flying Fortress Stages is running on Sunday 12th June 2022.

Once again, the event is based at its unique venue, the former WW2 American 8th Air Force Base at Grafton Underwood (near Kettering in Northamptonshire) on the private estate of Boughton House.

This estate has very limited public access, spectators will not be permitted, and we are using some newly-discovered bits of the old airfield to keep the crews on their toes!
