From Robert Newlove:
Happy New Year to you all.
We have now confirmed the date for the 2020 John Overend Memorial Stages Rally and Melbourne Junior Rally, it will now be held on Sunday 24th May, so please put it in your diary.
From Robert Newlove:
Regulations for the it@Spectrum New Year Autotest are available. Thanks to Ken for sponsoring the event.
Two Things to Note
Motorsport UK have put an additional £5.0 onto the per capita fee, so now we pay £11.50 to the Motorsport UK for each entry. As a result we have increased the entry fee to £15 from £12, the club will subsidise the rest.
LICENCES
Anyone entering an Autotest will need a competition Licence, the minimum is the Clubman RS licence which is free. You can apply on line for this, or by post, I will have some forms available on the day. If you hold another licence already such as a rally Licence, you will have to renew it before the 5th January.
I will also need some marshals, so let me know if you can help.
From our Chief Marshal:
I have been asked if we can help marshal on the Border Motor Club event at Cadwell on the 2nd February. This is quite a lot earlier in the year than on previous events. Border are great supporters of our Cadwell event so would like to help.
This means February is a busy month as we are running Cropton on the Riponian on the 9th.
If you can help please let me know.
Thanks
John
From John Newlove:
We have been asked to run a 9 mile stage in Cropton twice on the 2020 Riponian on the 9th February.
Please let me know if you can help.
And more (an email from John to those who marshalled on the Cropton stage on the Riponian in 2019)
I am sending this email to everyone who helped marshal the Cropton Stage on last year’s Riponian Rally who I have not been in contact with.
Apologies if you get this request more than once
Well we are doing it again in 2020 on Sunday 9th February. I know it sounds a long way off but it has a habit of creeping up on us.
The stage is running twice but in the reverse direction to last year.
No details re times etc yet
I would be very grateful for everyone’s help in 2020
Thanks
Clitheroe and District Motor Club are still looking for marshals for their Hall Trophy Rally at Blyton next Saturday (23rd November).
The Chief Marshal is Maurice Ellison tel. 07788 723721 (email marshals@halltrophy.co.uk).
Any volunteers would be gratefully accepted.
A reminder that NHMC’s Cadwell Stages Rally is on Sunday 17th November. Entries are good (we are over the maximum number).
John Newlove is recruiting marshals and also offers of help to set-up the stages would be welcome (offers to Gavin Heseltine, please).
On the Saturday (16th November) we are running a track half-day in the morning and building stages in the afternoon. Places on the track half-day are available through the event’s web-site at http://nhmccadwellstages.org.uk/track.shtml.
From our Chief Marshal
No doubt some of you will have seen this

Subject: Jim Clark Rally 2019 – Marshals 2
Marshals Required – Jim Clark Rally – 8/9 November 2019
It is now less than seven weeks until the roads of Berwickshire will once again echo to the sound of rally cars at speed.
To make the event happen we need your help.
There are still a large number of marshalling opportunities across the event – the stages (two on Friday afternoon / evening and four, all run twice, on Saturday), the start / finish in the Market Square, Duns and the Service Area on the edge of the town all need to be covered.
Whether you are an in-stage spectator marshal, specialise in timing or are a Motorsport UK Licenced Radio Marshal, we need you all! To allow the planning to move forward we need to know that sufficient marshals will be coming to the event.
If you are available to assist, and have not already done so, can you please register as soon as possible on Rally Stage Team (www.rallystageteam.co.uk). This system is not widely used by events in Scotland but is being used by ‘the Clark’ to record all marshal details into the one system to assist in the planning and allocation of duties. Details held on the system will also be used for a text messaging system we plan to trial so that marshals can be kept up to date with the status of the event. If you are unsure of how to use RST, or would prefer not to use it, please contact Neville Simmons, our Chief Marshal – contact details below.
Every volunteer will play a very valuable role in the safe and smooth running of the event. As well as a warm welcome, marshals will receive a gift as a thank you.
If you are not already an accredited marshal there is still time to get registered at www.motorsportuk.org/volunteers/marshals/online-rally-marshals-training Non-accredited marshals are still very welcome – you will be buddied with experienced registered colleagues.
For more information contact our Chief Marshal, Neville Simmons (Neville.simmons@live.co.uk / 07889141828), Garry Headridge, Communication Officer (garryheadridge79@btinternet.com / 07780602480) or Colin Smith, Deputy Clerk of the Course (Colin.cheviot@gmail.com / 07468 278887). No calls after 9pm please.
We appreciate there are multiple demands on your time in November but your support in making sure this Jim Clark Rally makes a successful return to the calendar will be very much appreciated. As John Cleland said at a recent Rally Marshal Training Day ‘Marshals, without them there would be no motorsport’
Regulations have been published and entries opened at 21:00 yesterday (Friday 20th September) for the sixth NHMC Cadwell Stages Rally on 17th November 2019.
For Regulations and a link to the on-line entry system see http://www.nhmccadwellstages.org.uk/competitors.shtml
Marshals’ information is at http://www.nhmccadwellstages.org.uk/marshals.shtml
