Some NHMC members will remember Clifford Spencer who I co-drove for in 1980 to 1986.
I’m very sad to report that Clifford passed away on Friday evening 9th October 2026.
Clifford’s best result whilst I was sat alongside him was probably on the 1981 Anglesey Scaffolding Gwynedd Rally where we were first in Group 1 and so led Group 1 in the Castrol/Autosport RAC National Rally Championship until the second round – things went downhill that year after that.

Mal died last Wednesday morning in HRI.
His executors are solicitors, who have been informed but as yet remain uncommunicative.
He will have a funeral and burial alongside his mother at North Cave Church but as yet there are no details.

I’ve been asked to forward the following to our member clubs.
Please accept our sincere apologies for those who were not aware, however we are deeply saddened to share the recent untimely passing of Gerry Blythe, who will be sorely missed by not only his family and friends, but also by all those who knew him.
A funeral service will take place in his honour at Alford Crematorium on Thursday 19th February at 2pm. We warmly welcome all who knew and loved Gerry to join us as we come together to pay our respects, however we kindly request no flowers other than family flowers, and any donations will be gifted to the Royal British Legion. The funeral will also be streamed via a live link for those who are unable to attend the funeral; please contact Beth directly on supernav.jnr@googlemail.com for the link to be shared in due course.
