Harewood 2027 Dates; & A Proposed ANCC Hillclimb & Sprint (Speed) Championship – 2027

From the ANCC Secretary:

Dear ANCC Clubs Secretaries & Delegates,

As Hon. Secretary of ANCC, I bring to the attention of all ANCC clubs, two notices to publicise to your competition members :

1. BARC Yorkshire Centre’s Hillclimb dates have been released for 2027 :
March 21st – Practice Day
April 10th & 11th – Spring Championship
May 8th & 9th – May British Hillclimb Championship
June 5th – Summer Championship
June 6th – Jim Thomson Memorial Hillclimb
July 3rd & 4th – July British Hillclimb Championship
July 31st – Yorkshire Speed Hillclimb
August 1st – Montague Burton Hillclimb
August 22nd – Classic & Vintage Hillclimb
September 18th – Greenwood Cup Hillclimb
September 19th – Mike Wilson Finals Hillclimb.

On behalf of the ANCC, I have accepted BARC Yorkshire’s invitations for the Association member clubs to take part in the March 21st Practice Day, along with both April 10th & 11th Spring Championship Hillclimbs.

N.B. BARC Yorkshire have informed me that all 2027 Harewood events are becoming oversubscribed, even at this stage – mid-October, 2026 !; some five months before to the start of the 2027 season. In other words, don’t leave your entry to early 2027, do it whilst the opportunity is there, please! Check out the BARC Yorkshire website for how to enter those events I’ve listed – March 21st, April 10th & 11th.

2. ANCC would like to promote a Speed Championship (Hillclimb & Sprint) Championship of it’s own in 2027 – but need the Association’s member clubs competitors help.

The initial thoughts are to run a Hillclimb & Sprint Championship with a maximum of six / seven rounds, having an approximate split of three hillclimbs & three sprints (or 3 / 4 etc.). If all six rounds are held – then four would score, & if only five are held – then only three score (ie. two lowest scores are dropped).

Potential venues would likely be Harewood (April – 2 rounds); Barbon Manor (June / July ?); Scammonden Dam ? (if the venue use can be agreed upon ?); plus Aintree (May / August ?); Three Sisters (June / September ?) & Blyton Park (March / July ?). All dates except Harewood, are yet to be confirmed !; – ANCC & ANWCC calendars awaited !.

ANCC would anticipate that competitors would already have entered the event as participants. I anticipate there would not need to be an an entry fee, as the Association would cover that – alongside other ANCC championships. However, if a championship sponsor / supporter were to be found, that would help.

Championship regulations – would follow MSUK’s NCRs, Ch. 14 – regarding vehicles; categories; points scoring; Championship Officials etc. The details would still need to be worked out.
Awards – again up for discussion, but perhaps an overall champion, plus runner-up / 2nd;
1st Junior (under 25 on 1 Jan. 2027), 1st Senior (over 65 on 1st Jan. 2027), 1st Novice.

Now we need your responses, please.

Questions to think about ?
Would you support an ANCC Speed Championship in 2027 ?
Is the geographical spread of events sufficient to attract, or deter you from entering ?
From Cumbria, North Liverpool, & Wigan in the west; across to the M62 damside,
the Wharfe Valley & Lincolnshire in the east.
Is the number of counting championship rounds correct ?
Would anyone be interested / willing to organise the ANCC Speed Championship ?.

I require your responses as soon as is practical, please; to then allow for the next steps to take place. It’s over to you, ANCC club members.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Kind regards,
Tim Bendelow
ANCC Hon. Secretary.
