A second request for marshals for the Greenpower Hull City Centre Race on 28th April and the Blyton test race on 9th March.
Greenpower Education Trust (https://www.greenpower.co.uk/) are running a closed road race (the Hull City Street Race) for their electric powered cars on 28 April 2019 (billed as “the first electric closed road race in the UK”). Total length of the circuit is about 900 metres.
They have asked North Humberside Motor Club and Beverley and District Motor Club to assist with marshalling the event.
They are also running a test race at Blyton Park on 9th March 2019 which entrants in the Hull City Street Race are required to attend. Again, they need help marshalling the test race.
These are battery powered cars designed, built, and raced by young people (11 to 25 years old). This is an initiative to “inspire young people to excel in STEM subjects”.
Alongside the Hull City Street Race, they are also planning an event in Queens Gardens, Hull for their “Goblin” cars (9 to 11 year-old children) and a major STEM event in a big marquee.
NHMC’s Dennis Robinson has agreed to be Chief Marshal for both events (Hull City Centre and Blyton Park) – anyone interested in volunteering for either or both of these events (rather different from the events we usually see), please contact Dennis at captjd@53wellard.karoo.co.uk.
