Hello everyone and Happy New Year.

The East Riding Stages Rally is now just under 6 weeks away and it is only 3 weeks until the deadline for the Stage Commanders to assign everyone to their roles and posts. Large numbers of you have very kindly signed up to volunteer but we still need more please. Some stages are safely staffed with a safety margin in case of withdrawals but we still have one stage below “predicted” and others with precious little margin for error.

This is the current status:
Saturday (evening):

Westwood – Predicted reached but little margin and still short of timing marshals.
Wold – Predicted reached but little margin and still short of timing marshals.

Sunday:

Seaton – Predicted reached with margin
Rise – Predicted reached with margin
Ellerby – Predicted not yet reached and no margin.
Swine – Predicted reached with little margin and still short of radio operators.
Westwood – Predicted reached but with no margin and short of timing marshals.

Closed Road events need far more marshals than a Forest Rally due the ease of access from the public highway. I estimate that we still need in the region of at least forty marshals to be safe on Saturday evening and around the same on Sunday. Consequently, if you haven’t yet volunteered at all or if you’ve only volunteered for Sunday and could do Saturday evening too we would love to hear from you.

The details on how to volunteer are attached again below. Alternatively, please do feel free to contact me directly by email or either of the numbers below.

I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming you to East Yorkshire next month.

Best regards,

Jon.

Dear All,

With the 2025 season finally drawing to a close it’s time to look ahead to next year. The East Riding Stages Rally is back for its fifth edition on Saturday evening and Sunday 21st/22nd February 2026. Yes, you have ready that correctly, we have added four stages to the itinerary in the dark on Saturday evening. 😀

After the tremendous successes of the previous editions we are delighted that the event will once again form the opening round of the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Championship and, new for 2026, the Roger Albert Clark Historic Asphalt Rally Championship. The British Rally Championship is starting their season later next year so we are not included but they may well be back in the future.
The 2026 edition will provide a similar feel to previous years but with a number of new innovations. The stage mileage will increase to around 73 miles across 14 stages. Much of the increase will be provided by the inclusion of four stages to run in the dark on Saturday evening. Following the Ceremonial start at the historic “North Bar” in Beverley town centre the crews will travel the short distance to undertake two runs of the “Westwood” stage running concurrently on 30 second starts. This stage has a new layout for 2026, much of which will be run in the opposite direction to before. Thereafter, the crews will undertake the brand new “Little Wold” and “Great Wold” stages to the south of Beverley. These stages consist of a common initial section before splitting to utilise different finishes. Unlike the very flat Holderness area, the Wold stages feature a considerable number of elevation changes as they climb and descend the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. The “Great Wold” stage (SS4) will be the longest of the event.

Sunday will have a similar feel to 2024/2025. The crews will start the day in Beverley Market Place, with a re-visit in the middle of the day. The day will be mainly fought out over the challenging stages in the Holderness area to the East of Beverley/North East of Hull, albeit with the stages running in the opposite direction from the last couple of years. In the middle of the day the event will return to Beverley Westwood on the western outskirts of the town and will conclude with a Ceremonial Finish and champagne spraying at Beverley Market Place.

The Chief Marshal for the event is myself, and my deputy is Jon Leckenby. Please contact us via jon.binns1@gmail.com and jonleckenby@aol.com respectively if you have any queries. We are looking for marshals of all disciplines unless noted otherwise.

I appreciate that many people have registered already and to you, thank you it is much appreciated. For those that haven’t and wish to do so, please go to www.rallystageteam.co.uk You will need to log in and then click “Events”, “Event Registration” and select “East Riding Stages Rally 2026” to register for this event, or send me an email.

Best Regards,
Jon.
