MSN Rally Championship

MSN Rally Championship posting on Facebook

📢 ATTENTION 📢
In light of the announcement made by the UK Government yesterday and discussion with Motorsport Vision and the relevant organising clubs, we have taken the unfortunate decision to call a temporary halt to 2020-21 calendar. That means that in addition to Round 2 being postponed, Round 3 at Cadwell Park and Round 4 at Oulton Park have also unfortunately been postponed.

We are currently working with Motorsport UK, Motorsport Vision and all organising clubs to explore all avenues to ensure the Championship resumes. We are working through a revised calendar of events to ensure all 8 rounds of the Championship can take place which will announce in due course.

Motorsport UK annual training

From John Newlove:

Thought this might be of interest. We usually do our training through ANCC but not heard anything from them, as the club is a member of EMAMC it is open to our members

Firstly, a very Happy New Year we hope to see Motorsport filling our calendars very soon.

As has become usual we will be holding Motorsport training 30th & 31st January, unfortunately it will be by Zoom this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, however our trainers have been working hard to make sure the training programs we have are interesting and informative, its free to log on and join in.

This year we are delivering four courses to give you the best opportunity to learn within your own home, with breaks factored in for convenience and of course we will be able to answer any questions on the day as usual.

We are offering the following courses.

  1. New to Motorsport Marshalling course this is a full day (09:30 > 15:30) and is for marshals moving from accredited status to marshal, it covers all the basics needed to marshal and gives a fantastic grounding to anyone new to marshalling.
  2. Timing for marshals, this course covers the new timing process with beams and lights, how competitors deal with time cards and how the time control marshals now operate, this is a full day (09:30 > 15:30).
  3. Deputy stage commander / Stage safety officer, this is the steppingstone course for senior stage marshals wanting to increase their knowledge to assist stage commanders and take on senior stage roles.  The course includes, stage checking, incident report writing and many useful insights into these two very senior roles. Ideal for anyone who is aiming to reach stage commander grade, this is a full day (09:30 > 15:30).
  4. Competitor first on scene, very useful skills to take away, we will run this course 3 times during the day, please chose a time suitable for you, taking around an hour and 15 minutes. Due to Covid-19 there will be less marshals in stage and you as a competitor may be first on scene, do you know what to do? We will give you safe basic information to assist you and your fellow competitors, also we will include an overview of the new timing process as not everyone has been involved in timecard completion and time control processes yet.

Use this link to register for Sunday training : https://form.jotform.com/203636742163050

The training programs will be repeated over two days giving you the opportunity to choose a day/time to suit you, new to radio has not been included as there are no new radio registered in 2020 and we aim for more practical training mid-year.

To assist training, we are planning mid-year practical training when hopefully we are again meet up and motorsport has resumed and put our skills into practice.

Kind regards

Riponian Rally 2021 – cancelled

From John Newlove:

Apparently the message below has appeared on Facebook. For some reason they don’t seem to want to tell me directly that the 2021 event has been cancelled.

The Riponian Organising Team, faced with no further clarification about access to the Yorkshire forests in February, coupled with uncertainty of what the future holds for COVID-19 restrictions after the Christmas ‘freedom of movement’ have decided that the only sensible thing to do would be cancel the event in February.

Additionally with there being no prospect of access to the forests between March and the end of July, which would then take us into clashes with events planning to use the same forests, unfortunately the only option was to have no Riponian in 2021. We plan to not waste the work the team has put in so far and aim to go again in February 2021.

Bridlington Weekend of Motoring 2021 – Change of date

We have recently become aware that the planned Car Craze Driffield 2021 is on the same weekend as the Bridlington Weekend of Motoring, and to avoid both events being on the same weekend, we have decided to change the date of the Bridlington Weekend of Motoring to one week later than originally planned.

The Bridlington Weekend of Motoring 2021 will now be on 18th and 19th September 2021.

Car Craze Driffield – 11/12 September 2021

Ladies and Gentlemen

Further to my email informing you that Johnny Ruddock, well known York Motor Club member and successful Classic Rally, Mk1 Escort driver, sadly passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home, early on the morning of Thursday 19th November.

Johnny’s funeral is to take place on Thursday the 10th December, 1pm at York Crematorium. The cortege will leave The Easingwold Market place, Chapel of rest and drive via Tholthorpe (village green) and Tollerton (village green), then turn left in Tollerton to pause at Johnny’s house, Cross lanes Cottage at the Huby / Tollerton crossroad on the A19, then turning right to York. The Crematorium will be approached presumably via the A1237 York Ring Road, London Bridge and Sim Balk Lane.

Local people are planning to line the route in Tholthorpe and Tollerton and it is suggested that Johnny’s “York Motor Club” friends could show their respect outside the Crematorium, or the route to it, a turnout of competition cars would be appreciated.

2021 planned dates now in calendar

NHMC’s planned events and dates of NHMC Board/Committee meetings in 2021 are now in the events calendar on this web-site at https://northhumbersidemotorclub.co.uk/events/list/

Everything subject to whatever the coronavirus restrictions are at the time.

December 2020 autotest cancelled

From Robert Newlove:

With there being no let up in the corona situation, and the likely hood of our area being in Tier3 after the lockdown, I have decided not to run the December Autotest. The next date scheduled is the New Year Autotest on the 3rd of January. I shall look at this a bit nearer the date.

Motorsport UK confirms the suspension of non-elite motorsport in England until early December

For anyone who has not seen it elsewhere, here is the statement from Motorsport UK issued on Monday 2nd November:

Dear motorsport colleagues,

Motorsport UK has consulted on the implications for motorsport in England with the Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in respect of the plan to enter a four-week national lockdown on Thursday 5th November.

The governing body confirms that following DCMS guidance it must suspend all non-elite motorsport until 2nd December. Selected elite events officially recognised by the DCMS, which include the British Touring Car Championship, will be permitted to continue.

Motorsport activities in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands are subject to prevailing government guidance in those devolved territories. At this time, motorsport as organised sport continues in Scotland, in accordance with Motorsport UK’s comprehensive restart guidance introduced on 4th July. Motorsport is currently suspended in Northern Ireland and Wales, as mandated by the respective devolved governments.

In respect of permits issued for non-elite events in England between 5th November and 2nd December, Motorsport UK confirms that those permits are now withdrawn. Organisers will need to reapply if they plan to hold the event at a later date.

Motorsport UK will continue to monitor the prevailing advice from the UK Government and that of the devolved nations and ensure the motorsport community is updated.

Motorsport UK would like to thank the entire motorsport community for their resilience and hard work throughout the summer months to keep motorsport running and operating safely. During the coming weeks we will be working hard to ensure that as soon as government guidance allows, motorsport can safely resume once again.
